Internships for Iowans
If you’re a college-age Iowan, or have one in your life, you might take a minute to watch the
video produced this summer by interns who worked in my office in Washington, D.C. These young people took an opportunity to learn more about government with a Senate internship. Their enthusiasm and interest in public policy and the way our system of government works bodes well for America’s representative democracy.
I encourage all young Iowans to apply for
internships in my office regardless of their area of study in college. It’s a good way to learn more about how Congress works while gaining valuable work experience. Full- and part-time internships are available both semesters and during the summer months in Washington, D.C., and in my offices in Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Sioux City and Waterloo. Interns assist staff members with administrative, legislative and communications work. Interns also help my staff on the Senate Committee on the Judiciary where I’m the Ranking Member.
The next intern session begins in January, and applications are due October 15. Click
here for an application form. The forms also are available in my Iowa offices. Applications should be emailed to
intern_applications@grassley.senate.gov or faxed to 202-224-5136.
