Internships for Young Iowans

Leading tours of the U.S. Capitol, helping to research legislative proposals, observing congressional hearings, assisting with constituent requests for information, and helping Senate staff serve Iowans are all part of the work of interns who serve for a semester or six-week summer session in my offices in Iowa and Washington, D.C.

These internships are designed for college students and recent graduates.  Young Iowans who want to learn more about government are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline for the upcoming fall semester is June 15.  Full- and part-time positions are available in my offices in Washington, D.C., Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Sioux City and Waterloo.  Interns are assigned to assist staff members with administrative, legislative and communications work, including the work of my staff on the Senate Judiciary Committee, where I serve as Ranking Member.

Spending a semester working in a congressional office is a good way to learn more about the legislative branch of the federal government.  It can enhance a college education for students in all areas of study.  Internships also offer valuable work experience and help to make students more competitive job applicants when they graduate.

More information, including internship application forms, is available at http://grassley.senate.gov/info/internships.cfm. Or, call my office at 202-224-3744 for additional guidance.
