Crime/Antitrust

Senator Grassley's senior position on the Senate Judiciary Committee gives him the opportunity to conduct oversight of the U.S. Justice Department. In recent years, he has called upon its Anti-Trust Division to weigh carefully consolidation in agribusiness. Specifically, he is concerned about reduced market opportunities, possible anti-competitive and predatory business practices, vertical integration and fewer competitors.

Senator Grassley is also a strong supporter of the Violence Against Women Act that established a national commitment to women and children victimized by domestic violence and sexual assault, and the Victims of Crime Fund which was created to provide federal support for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crime.
