Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa today made the following comment on the Environmental Protection Agency’s agreement to hold a 120-day public comment period for the federal government’s proposed regulation of greenhouse gases from existing coal-fired power plants. Grassley was part of a bipartisan group of 47 senators who asked for the extended comment period.
“The EPA has an obligation to hear from everyone with an interest in this rule. This proposal could have a huge effect on Iowans since so much of our energy comes from coal. The Administration needs to understand the full impact of this regulation. Utility costs could go up for customers around the country.”
