$101,340 to East Central Iowa Council of Governments

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has awarded a $101,340 grant to the East Central Iowa Council of Governments in Cedar Rapids.

“These funds should help generate economic growth and new jobs in Iowa,” Grassley said. “This kind of public-private partnership can do a great deal of economic good for Iowa.”

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, the East Central Iowa Council of Governments will use the money to help establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Washington counties.

The Economic Development Administration serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the United States through the promotion of innovation and competitiveness and preparing regions for growth and success in the global economy.
