WASHINGTON- Senator Grassley today said that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has awarded a $118,228 grant to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
"These funds will help allow the Iowa Department of Public Health to continue a program which helps Iowans keep their blood pressure in control," Grassley said. "By understanding a person's tobacco use, doctors and researchers can better learn and then educate the public about the risks of high blood pressure and tobacco use."
The Iowa Department of Public Health will use the money to help fund a pilot project to extend the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention program, which works to increase blood pressure control through policy and system changes in dental practices and to reach patients in a underutilized setting.
