$158,950 to Iowa for Agricultural Water Enhancement

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service has released $158,950 to Rathbun Land and Water Alliance through the Agricultural Water Enhancement program.

The Agricultural Water Enhancement program was established in the 2008 farm bill.  The funds were distributed though a competitive process.

"This funding should help the Rathbun Land and Water Alliance continue their work to protect and enhance the land, water and economic resources around the Rathbun region," Grassley said.

Rathbun Land and Water Alliance will use the money to help fund a project titled, "Protect Rathbun Lake Project: A Targeted Approach to Water Resource Enhancement."

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Agricultural Water Enhancement program promotes ground and surface water conservation and improves water quality by helping farmers and ranchers implement agricultural water enhancement activities.
