WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention has awarded a $360,000 grant to the Iowa Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning Agency in Des Moines through the Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws Block Grant Program.
"These funds will help provide the Iowa Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning Agency with resources to curb underage drinking and provide treatment for kids in need," Grassley said.
The Iowa Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning Agency will use the money to support underage drinking enforcement efforts and programs for prevention, treatment, education and youth task forces throughout the state. The juvenile population in each district determines the amount of funding distributed to the areas.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws program supports and enhances state and local efforts to enforce laws prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages or the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors.
