WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded two competitive grants totaling $438,520 to the University of Iowa and the Iowa Dental Association.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will distribute the money as shown below.
• $188,520 to the University of Iowa from the National Cancer Institute to help pay for a surgical oncology research training program
• $250,000 to the Iowa Dental Association from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to help pay for the Children’s Dental Home Demonstration Project
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
