$50,000 to Iowa Protection and Advocacy Services

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $50,000 competitive grant to Iowa Protection and Advocacy Services in West Des Moines.

“These funds will help provide support services for people with developmental disabilities, mental illnesses, and other disabilities,” Grassley said.

Iowa Protection and Advocacy Services will use the money to help pay for a project titled, “Traumatic Brain Injury Protection and Advocacy.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
