WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa made the following statement ahead of the final confirmation vote for Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to be an Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court. Audio of the full statement can be found here and the text can be found below.

It’s a great day to get Judge Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court. He’s very well qualified, has a tremendous record on the second highest court in our land, the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. And it’s too bad that in the three months that he’s been nominated by the President, very little time was spent on his qualifications because, really, people that don’t want him on the Court couldn’t find anything wrong with his qualifications so they kept digging up things from 35 years ago that, in the end, never had any corroboration. So, obviously his qualifications carried the day. And so at the end of Saturday session of the Senate, which is very extraordinary, we will have a full complement of nine on the Supreme Court and Judge Kavanaugh will be Justice Kavanaugh. The right person at the right time.
