Grassley: $1,202,928 to Iowa from U.S. Department of Homeland Security


  

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded two grants totaling $1,202,928 to Iowa . The funds are through the Infrastructure Protection Activities Grant Program.


 

            “This money will help

Iowa secure critical sites, as well as provide the traveling public with a safe trip,” Grassley said. 


 

            The Infrastructure Protection Activities grant program is composed of five separate grant programs; the Transit Security Grant Program, the Port Security Grant Program, the Intercity Bus Security Grant Program, the Trucking Security Program and the Buffer Zone Protection Program.

 

            The grant funds from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will be distributed as shown below.

 

  • --$1,194,000 to Iowa through the Buffer Zone Protection Program to enhance the perimeter security of identified critical infrastructure/key resource sites

 

  • --$8,928 to Burlington Stagelines to enhance the security of bus systems that travel to and from Urban Area Security Initiative sites, like Chicago or Omaha , at least 50 times per year.
