WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, along with Senator Joni Ernst and Congressman Blum, once again met with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney to advocate for the inclusion of funding for the Cedar Rapids flood damage reduction and flood risk management project in the Administration’s budget for Fiscal Year 2019.

Grassley helped secure the original authorization and the inclusion of language in the last water resources bill, which stated that the Army Corps of Engineers shall expedite the completion of the authorized project. Grassley released the following comment about today’s meeting:

“In our meeting, we relayed the concerns of Iowans living in the Cedar Rapids area to Director Mulvaney. We also made clear the importance of this project and plan to take advantage of every opportunity to get it funded. It would be penny wise and pound foolish for the federal government to not fund this project. Investing in prevention efforts now will save taxpayers billions over time.”
