According to the USDA, the Farmers Mutual Cooperative Telephone Company loan will be used to connect 39 new subscribers, deploy fifteen miles of new fiber and copper cable, and install digital switching technology and enhanced features to enable the use of advanced telecommunications services.
"Farmers Mutual Cooperative Telephone Company will be able to give additional service to a number of new people and help them continue improving their existing services. This loan will allow them to expand their services and keep their technology up to date," Grassley said. "Investing in new and improved telecommunication services is important to rural Iowa."
The Rural Utilities Service helps rural America finance electric, telecommunications, and water and waste water projects, and makes loans and grants for rural distance learning and telemedicine projects.
