Grassley Calls for Senate Action on Extended Unemployment Benefits, Tax Relief

? Sen. Chuck Grassley, ranking member of the Senate Committee on Finance, issued the following comment about the House vote today for a package of unemployment benefits and tax breaks to stimulate investment.

"The Senate Democratic leadership should bring this bill up for a vote immediately. Action's already been obstructed three times on legislation to extend benefits to workers who've lost jobs just to satisfy extreme views within the Democratic caucus. The Senate should act quickly to pass this House bill without any changes. We need to put the unemployment benefits in place for the people who need them, and establish a bare-minimum insurance policy with tax relief that helps keep and create jobs. It will help us get through any down-tick in the recovering economy. The Senate majority leader has played politics with this legislation since last November. That's long enough."
