Grassley Encourages Purple Ribbon Movement for Kathlynn Shepard

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley is lending his support to the Purple Ribbon Movement for Kathlynn Shepard, the missing 15-year-old Iowa girl who was last seen on May 20 getting off her school bus in Dayton.

Grassley met Kathlynn’s father last week in Fort Dodge during a previously scheduled Grassley town meeting.  Kathlynn’s father gave Grassley the purple ribbon he is wearing in this photograph.

Grassley praised local and state rescue workers, authorities and investigators, as well as the many volunteers who have been searching for Kathlynn.  He urged others who may be able to help to get involved and consider donating their time and resources.

Grassley said he supports stricter laws against sex offenders and others who victimize children, though most of these laws are made by states rather than the federal government.
