Grassley Invites Des Moines Area Superintendents to Meeting with U.S. Education Secretary

in June.

"The implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act is a particularly pertinent topic these days. I hope the Des Moines area superintendents can take advantage of this opportunity to speak with Secretary Paige," Grassley said. "I think this is an opportunity for superintendents to address any questions and concerns they may have directly to the top federal education official."

Grassley said it's also important for Secretary Paige to hear from leaders who are on the front lines of Iowa's top-notch education system.

Grassley has been asking officials at the U.S. Department of Education to look at the unique issues surrounding Iowa's quality education system as they review the Iowa plan for implementing the No Child Left Behind Act. Grassley has also worked to facilitate communication between the Iowa Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education.

Grassley arranged the meeting with Secretary Paige in coordination with the Greater Des Moines Partnership's Washington, D.C. trip to make it convenient for those who might like to attend.
