WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has awarded two grants totaling $2,055,993 to Iowa through the Alcohol-Impaired Driving Prevention Program and the Motorcycle Safety Grant Program.
“These funds will help improve the safety on Iowa roads,” Grassley said.
The Alcohol-Impaired Driving Prevention Program provides incentive grants to reward states for meeting strong impaired driving program and performance requirements which reduce impaired driving.
The Motorcycle Safety Grant Program provides grants to states that adopt and implement effective programs to reduce the number of single and multi-vehicle crashes involving motorcyclists.
The grant funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be distributed as shown below.
v Iowa will receive a $100,000 grant through the Motorcycle Safety Grant Program.
v Iowa will receive a $1,955,993 grant through the Alcohol-Impaired Driving Prevention Program.
