Grassley: More Than $5.6 Million in Loans and Grants to Iowa from USDA


 

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded loans totaling $4,766,050 and grants totaling $896,100 to Iowa through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program.
 
“The construction of necessary facilities is important in rural Iowa. This funding will help better serve the residents of Iowa County, Conroy, Dickens, Dolliver and Truesdale,” Grassley said.
 
The Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program provides funding to develop water and waste disposal, including solid waste disposal and storm drainage, systems in rural areas and towns with a population not in excess of 10,000.
 
The funds from USDA will be distributed as shown below.
 
·       Iowa Lakes Regional Water in Spencer will receive a $131,000 grant and $43,000 loan for 40 years at 2.75 percent interest to help complete a waste water collection and treatment system for Dickens.
 
·       Iowa Lakes Regional Water in Spencer will receive a $467,100 grant and $271,000 loan for 40 years at 2.75 percent interest to help complete a waste water collection and treatment system for Dolliver. Approximately 48 residential and 5 non-residential customers will be installed on the system.
 
·       Iowa Lakes Regional Water in Spencer will receive a $298,000 grant and $12,000 loan for 40 years at 2.75 percent interest to help complete a waste water collection and treatment system for Truesdale.
 
·       Poweshiek Water Association in Brooklyn will receive a $2,683,450 loan to expand southeast of the new water treatment plant in Iowa County and lay nearly 50 miles of rural water line, and add approximately 194 users on the system.
 
·       Poweshiek Water Association in Brooklyn will receive a $1,756,600 loan for 40 years at 4.5 percent interest to provide a transmission line to Conroy, a new well field in Iowa County, and a storage tank and generator for the water treatment plant in Iowa County.
