“Iowans have a rich history of serving our nation to protect the values we hold dear and preserve our freedom. This project is a way Iowa veterans can document their stories, so future generations of Americans can learn about their sacrifices and contributions,” Grassley said.
The Veterans History Project chronicles firsthand accounts of U.S. military veterans from World War I through present day. The interviews range from 30 to 60 minutes. For the event at Rock Island Arsenal Museum on November 3, appointments are limited and will be scheduled as requests are received. To date, over 70 Iowa veterans have shared their stories with Grassley’s office for inclusion with the project. Library of Congress then catalogues and makes the videos available.
