Iowa Senator Invites Farmers to Call for Updates


, DC - In an effort to keep Iowa farmers appraised of farm-related policy developments in Washington, Senator Chuck Grassley today announced the creation of his "Ag News Hotline."

Farmers will be able to access the toll-free hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to listen to discussion from Grassley regarding the farm economy, legislative efforts to assist struggling farmers, as well as ongoing policy debates on Capitol Hill and with the administration.

"As the only family farmer in the U.S. Senate, I feel a responsibility to educate my colleagues about the importance of agriculture and the severity of the crisis in the heartland," said Grassley. "Additionally, it is my duty to keep in close contact with farmers at the grassroots regarding agriculture policy. This ?Ag News Hotline' will help farmers all across the state have information on what Congress is doing to address the current farm crisis, as well as specific initiatives I'm undertaking to help expand opportunities for the future."

To access the "Ag News Hotline," farmers should call 800-545-1267, dial 500 and press 1 for the most recent message.
