Budget Committee Hearing
Family Opportunity Act
Wednesday, July 12, 2000, Room 608 Dirksen, 10 a.m.
Panel One: An Overview of the Family Opportunity Act
Sen. Chuck Grassley is the sponsor of a comprehensive bill that would improve the health services available to children with multiple medical needs and ease the financial hardships of their families. He and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) introduced the Family Opportunity Act of 2000 in March. The bill would allow states to offer a Medicaid buy-in to families of children with disabilities. Rep. Pete Sessions is introducing a similar bill in the House of Representatives the day of the hearing.
