WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), president pro tempore of the U.S. Senate, issued the following statement after North Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg delivered remarks to a joint session of Congress earlier today.
“It was a privilege to welcome NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to a joint session of Congress today. This year NATO celebrates its 70th anniversary, and Secretary General Stoltenberg’s address to Congress highlighted our shared values and commitments on both sides of the Atlantic. The increased efforts and defense spending by our critical allies since President Trump’s inauguration has further fortified our 70-year connection to one another. And as co-Chair of the Senate Baltic Freedom Caucus, I understand the importance of a strong and enduring NATO alliance. The United States will always stand with our NATO partners to preserve our security and freedom.”
