WASHINGTON
– Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) issued the following statement applauding the
termination
of the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) contract.
“The
Defense Department’s decision to terminate this contract is the correct one.
The JEDI contract has been burdened by potential conflicts of interest, size, needless
delays and its single awardee structure. The new path for a potentially
multi-vendor contract and a fresh review process, as I have previously
suggested, will afford the program an opportunity for greater public trust and
confidence. The department will need to ensure that this new contract both
allows for all companies to compete in an open and fair process. This was the
right decision, and I hope the department takes every possible step to ensure
this contracting process is above board.”
