Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week.  The Senate is in session.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington, D.C., from the American Dental Association; the Iowa Wholesale Beer Distribution Association; the Government Accounting Standards Board; the Quality Construction Alliance; the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association; the Iowa Transportation Commission; the Cedar Valley Chamber of Commerce; Iowa Community Bankers; the Iowa AARP; the University of Iowa College of Law, College of Engineering, College of Public Health and College of Continuing Education; the Fraternal Government Relations Coalition; the Emergency Nurses Association; the Iowa Orthopaedic Society; and the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce.  

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families from Cedar Rapids and Grimes.

Senator Grassley met with Iowa students from HLV (Hartwick, Ladora, Victor) High School and Dordt College. 

Senator Grassley was a guest on public affairs programs hosted by Gary Edwards on KXEL in Waterloo, Doug Wagner on WMT in Cedar Rapids, and Greg Haubrich on WGEM in Quincy and will be a guest on a public affairs program hosted by Dan Delbert and Dan Kennedy on WOC in Davenport. 

On Monday, April 27, at 10 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley spoke at the National Press Club on the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Grassley laid out his agenda for victims’ justice reform.  Read his remarks here and watch the video here. 

On Tuesday, April 28, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Judiciary Committee hearing on “Oversight of the Department of Homeland Security.”  Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will testify before the commitee. 

On Tuesday, April 28, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing on “Creating a More Efficient and Level Playing Field: Audit and Appeals Issues in Medicare.” 

On Tuesday, April 28, at 2:45 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will receive the Congressional Advocate of the Year Award from the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) for his work “on behalf of children and families who are vulnerable, and achieved demonstrated policy or funding improvements related to services and supports for children in the child welfare system.”  Senator Grassley is the co-chair of the Senate Caucus on Foster Youth.  More about the CWLA can be found here.  

On Wednesday, April 29, at 8 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will receive the U.S. Chamber’s “Spirit of Enterprise” Award for his work to support businesses during the 113th Congress. 

On Wednesday, April 29, at 9:35 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley’s bill to enhance Section 529 college savings plans will receive Finance Committee consideration.

On Wednesday, April 29, at 11 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will attend an address by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to a joint session of Congress. 

On Thursday, April 30, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over the weekly executive business meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  The committee will consider S. 993, the Comprehensive Justice and Mental Health Act of 2015, sponsored by Senators Grassley, Al Franken, John Cornyn, Patrick Leahy, Dick Durbin, Amy Klobuchar, Chris Coons, and Richard Blumenthal.
