Sen. Chuck Grassley is a senior member of the Finance Committee, which today voted to re-authorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for five years. The committee approved the Keep Kids’ Insurance Dependable and Secure (KIDS) Act of 2017 on a bipartisan voice vote. Grassley made the following comment on the vote.
“The bipartisan committee vote shows the Senate’s understanding of what this program accomplishes and the need to make sure it continues without interruption. While authorization for the program expired September 30, 2017, funds remain available in Iowa through June 2018. A report shows that 11 other states would be out of funds at the end of December. Congress is working to re-authorize the program well before then.”
