Sen. Chuck Grassley today announced that Iowa's regional airports will receive more than $6.5 million for new construction and other structural improvements.
The airports will use the funding for construction and rehabilitation of taxiways and runways, as well as for projects that improve the safety and efficiency of aircraft movement. The money comes from the Federal Aviation Administration's airport improvement program.
"I'm happy to see federal funding help air transportation in Iowa," said Grassley. "The improvements will encourage use of the airports and will increase the safety of people flying in Iowa."
Following is a list of the airports that will receive funding:

Ames Municipal Airport | Amount: $171,180 |
To be used for rehabilitation of the south apron and taxiway to the east hangars, which will extend the useful life of the pavement and maintain the integrity of the pavement.
Ankeny Regional Airport | Amount: $528,310 |
To be used for construction of the south taxiway, which will improve safety and efficiency of aircraft surface movement.
Atlantic Municipal Airport | Amount: $449,100 |
To be used to acquire land for construction of runway 2/20, which will improve safety and efficiency of surface movement of aircraft.
Boone Municipal Airport | Amount: $569,700 |
To be used for the construction of the parallel taxiway, which will significantly improve aircraft movement and safety.
Chariton Municipal Airport | Amount: $110,523 |
To be used for rehabilitation of the T-hangar taxiway and apron, which will extend their useful life and maintain the integrity of the pavement.
Clinton Municipal Airport | Amount: $668,937 |
To be used for construction of the parallel taxiway to runway 3/21, which will improve both safety and efficiency of aircraft surface movement.
Davenport Municipal Airport | Amount: $135,000 |
To be used for rehabilitation of runway 15/33, which is necessary to maintain the integrity of the pavement and extend its useful life; and for the installation of airfield guidance signs, which will improve taxiway operational safety and efficiency after dark.
Denison Municipal Airport | Amount: $158,400 |
To be used to rehabilitate the apron, which will extend its useful life as well as maintain the integrity of the pavement.
Dubuque Regional Airport | Amount: $252,075 |
To be used for the installation of perimeter fencing, which is necessary to exclude deer and other animals from the aircraft movement area. The installation is in response to a site visit conducted by the USDA wildlife services and direction from the FAA.
Dubuque Regional Airport | Amount: $36,000 |
To be used to conduct a terminal building study. The study is necessary to evaluate the existing and future needs of the airport related to the terminal building. The study will allow the airport to adequately plan terminal building development.
Fairfield Municipal Airport | Amount: $236,700 |
To be used for construction of runway 18/36, which will improve safety and efficiency of aircraft surface movement.
Keokuk Municipal Airport | Amount: $148,833 |
To be used for rehabilitation of the apron, which will extend its useful life and will maintain the integrity of the pavement.
Ottumwa Industrial Airport | Amount: $234,536 |
To be used for the rehabilitation of the runway lighting vault, which will improve safety and efficiency of aircraft surface movement.
