WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded three grants totaling $1,047,754 to Iowa colleges and clinics.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said it will distribute the money as shown below.
• Drake University in Des Moines will receive $396,000, from the Division of Grants Management Operations, for health professionals programs
• Free Clinics of Iowa in Des Moines will receive $346,500, from the Division of Grants Management Operations, for mandated health care projects
• The University of Iowa in Iowa City will receive $305,254, from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, for infant behavioral state development research
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
