WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants totaling $578,012 to make safety and operations improvements at three airports in Iowa.
These federal grants are distributed by the Federal Aviation Administration. They are not earmarks determined by Congress.
The funds will be distributed as follows:
• Emmetsburg Municipal Airport will receive $217,962 to update lighting
• Independence Municipal Airport will receive $131,100 to purchase new snow removal equipment
• Northeast Iowa Regional Airport in Charles City will receive $228,950 to rehabilitate ramp pavement
