WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has awarded two formula grants totaling $2,358,705 to Iowa through the State and Community Highway Safety Grant Program.
“These funds will help improve safety on Iowa highways,” Grassley said.
The State and Community Highway Safety Grant Program supports state highway safety programs designed to reduce traffic crashes and resulting deaths, injuries, and property damage. The funds will be distributed as shown below.
· $448,624 to help Iowa implement and enforce occupant protection programs to reduce deaths and injuries from riding unrestrained or improperly restrained in motor vehicles.
· $1,910,081 to help Iowa support state highway safety programs.
