WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants totaling $3,291,559 to nine Iowa airports.
“This funding will help improve the safety and service provided at local airports and help provide important economic development opportunities for these Iowa communities,” Grassley said.
The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded funds to facilitate various airport improvement projects, as described below.
v Iowa City will receive $472,583 to help rehabilitate two runways at Iowa City Municipal Airport.
v Hampton will receive $273,693 to help rehabilitate runway lighting at Hampton Municipal Airport.
v Red Oak will receive $82,641 to help construct a taxiway at Red Oak Municipal Airport.
v Pocahontas will receive $348,693 to help rehabilitate a runway at Pocahontas Municipal Airport.
v Dubuque Regional Airport Commission will receive $1,429,074 to help purchase land to build a new terminal at Dubuque Regional Airport.
v Perry will receive $171,000 to help rehabilitate a taxiway at Perry Municipal Airport.
v Knoxville Airport Commission will receive $66,983 to help construct a conventional hangar to accommodate Knoxville Municipal Airport’s waiting list of potential tenants.
v Decorah will receive $208,065 to help reconstruct an apron at Decorah Municipal Airport.
v Sheldon will receive $238,827 to help construct a conventional hangar to accommodate Sheldon Municipal Airport’s waiting list of potential tenants.
