WASHINGTON – Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration has awarded ten grants totaling $1,150,858 to Iowa airports.
“This funding will increase the safety and efficiency of these airports, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities in these communities,” Grassley said.
The distribution information below is organized alphabetically by town:
• Albia Municipal Airport will receive $201,916 for taxiway construction
• Algona Municipal Airport will receive $112,727 for runway end identification lights
• Atlantic Municipal Airport will receive $100,000 for taxiway construction
• Audubon County Airport will receive $50,000 for runway rehabilitation and parking lot construction
• Belle Plaine Municipal Airport will receive $142,500 for snow removal equipment
• Northeast Iowa Regional Airport in Charles City will receive $58,769 for the installation of a Precision Approach Path Indicator System
• Denison Municipal Airport will receive $138,096 for taxiway construction
• Forest City Municipal Airport will receive $103,650 for snow removal equipment
• Greenfield Municipal Airport will receive $157,700 for runway rehabilitation
• Muscatine Municipal Airport will receive $85,500 for snow removal equipment
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
