$144,750 to WITCC from the U.S. Department of Transportation

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has awarded a $144,720 grant to Western Iowa Tech Community College through the Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Training Grant Program.

WITCC will use the funds to enhance behind-the-wheel safety training courses for students enrolled in commercial driver’s license training programs.

“This money should help improve safety on Iowa roads and highways by improving the training of commercial drivers,” Grassley said.

According to the Department of Transportation, the goal of the Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Training Grant Program is to make the roadways safer by increasing the number of commercial driver’s license holders with enhanced safety training.
