Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week.  The Senate is in session.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington with the American Medical Association, the Iowa Air National Guard, the American Federation of Government Employees Local 836, Local 2119 and Local 2752, Western Iowa Tech Community College, Southeastern Iowa Community College, Iowa Valley Community College, Iowa Central Community College, Hawkeye Community College, Iowa Western Community College, Eastern Iowa Community College, Northern Iowa Community College, Northwest Iowa Community College, the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees, the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs, NISH (a nonprofit organization for employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities), the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency, the Agricultural Retailers Association, the Iowa Medical Society, the Iowa Rural Water Association, the Midwest Assistance Program, the Acting Local Taxpayer Advocate, and the American Astronomical Society.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families visiting Washington from Ankeny, Davenport, and West Des Moines.

Senator Grassley will be a guest this week on public affairs radio programs hosted by Mel Crippen of KASI Radio in Ames, Ryan Schlader of WMT Radio in Cedar Rapids, Maxine Sieleman of Praise 940 Radio in Des Moines, Mark Hahn of KSCJ Radio in Sioux City, and Mike Savage of KBUR Radio in Burlington.

On Tuesday, February 12, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a hearing of the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights titled “Proposals to Reduce Gun Violence:  Protecting Our Communities While Respecting the Second Amendment.”

On Tuesday, February 12, at 10:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a hearing of the Budget Committee with testimony about a new report of the Congressional Budget Office titled “The Budget and Economic Outlook:  Fiscal 2013-2023.”

On Tuesday, February 12, at 9 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will attend the State of the Union Address of the President.

On Wednesday, February 13, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a hearing of the Judiciary Committee to begin considering comprehensive immigration reform.  The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, will testify.

On Wednesday, February 13, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a hearing of the Finance Committee to consider the nomination of Jacob Lew to be Treasury Secretary.

On Thursday, February 14, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a hearing of the Agricultural Committee titled “Drought, Fire and Freeze:  The Economics of Disasters for America’s Agricultural Producers.”  

On Thursday, February 14, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in the weekly executive business meeting of the Judiciary Committee.  The committee may act on any of the following nominations:  Caitlin Joan Halligan to be United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit, Patty Shwartz to be United States Circuit Judge for the Third Circuit, Pamela Ki Mai Chen to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of New York, Katherine Polk Failla to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York, Andrew Patrick Gordon to be United States District Judge for the District of Nevada, Ketanji Brown Jackson to be United States District Judge for the District of Columbia, Raymond P. Moore to be United States District Judge for the District of Colorado, Troy L. Nunley to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of California, Beverly Reid O'Connell to be United States District Judge for the Central District of California, Analisa Torres to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of New York, Derrick Kahala Watson to be United States District Judge for the District of Hawaii, Mark A. Barnett to be a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade, Claire R. Kelly to be a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade, and David Medine to be Chairman and Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board.  Senator Grassley is the Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

On Thursday, February 14, at 3 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with civic leaders from Mason City who have traveled to Washington to discuss and address economic development initiatives and issues.
