WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded a loan guarantee of $60,750 and three grants totaling $42,895 to Iowa through the Community Facility Guaranteed Loan and Grant Program.
"This funding will help purchase necessary equipment that should help keep citizens of these communities safer in case of an emergency," Grassley said.
The Office of Rural Development will distribute the funds as shown below.
· Holstein will receive a $60,750 loan guarantee and a $14,000 grant to help purchase a front-end loader and accessories that will be used in essential public works and emergency services.
· Pomeroy Palmer Community School in Pomeroy will receive a $9,900 grant to help purchase child care equipment for the Pomeroy Palmer Community School child care.
· Shenandoah will receive a $10,000 grant to help purchase and install a new emergency warning siren system. The four new sirens should provide improved emergency notification. Page County was declared a Presidential Disaster area for both individual and community assistance.
· Toronto will receive a $8,995 grant to help purchase an outdoor warning siren. Clinton County was declared a Presidential Disaster area for both individual and community assistance.
The Community Facilities Guaranteed Loan Program provides government-backed credit enhancement to private lenders seeking to finance community-based public facilities.
The Community Facility Grant program provides grants to assist in the development of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population.
