WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that Iowa has received two competitive grants totaling $129,680 from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration.
"These funds should help generate economic growth and new jobs in Iowa," Grassley said. "This public - private partnership should serve Iowa's economic interests well."
The Economic Development Administration will distribute the funds as shown below.
· Region XII Council of Governments in Carroll will receive $64,840 to help establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region, which is comprised of Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Greene, Guthrie and Sac counties.
· Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission in Burlington will receive $64,840 to help establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region, which is comprised of Des Moines, Henry, Lee and Louisa counties.
The Economic Development Administration serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the United States through the promotion of innovation and competitiveness and preparing regions for growth and success in the global economy.
