WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released a total of $139,650 to Iowa through the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program.
"These funds will help provide emergency personnel with proper tools to help keep their communities safe," Grassley said.
FEMA will distribute the money as shown below.
· Cass County Emergency Management in Atlantic will receive $30,300 for a TAC-PAK Briefcase Command System, which is a lightweight, battery powered, man portable communication platform with full wireless communications functionality that is integrated into a small suitcase.
· Belle Plaine Fire Department in Belle Plaine will receive $14,700 for a TACSIGHT Thermal Imager, which allows personnel to see heat signatures of objects, people and other sources.
· Eldridge Volunteer Fire Company in Eldridge will receive $30,300 for a TAC-PAK Briefcase Command System, which is a lightweight, battery powered, man portable communication platform with full wireless communications functionality that is integrated into a small suitcase.
· Grinnell Fire Department in Grinnell will receive $16,550 for hydraulic rescue tools. The pump will utilize two-tool simultaneous operation with supercharged hydrostatic 2 stage radial piston pumps.
· Marion County Sheriff's Department in Knoxville will receive $14,700 for a TACSIGHT Thermal Imager, which allows personnel to see heat signatures of objects, people and other sources.
· Sioux County will receive $16,550 for a Zistos modular portable video system.
· Jefferson Monroe Fire Department in Swisher will receive $16,550 for hydraulic rescue tools. The pump will utilize two-tool simultaneous operation with supercharged hydrostatic 2 stage radial piston pumps.
According to FEMA, the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program enhances regional response capabilities and mutual aid by providing technology and equipment, together with training and technical assistance to law enforcement, emergency responder agencies in small and rural jurisdictions and certain metropolitan areas.
