$14,849 to Mason City from U.S. Department of Justice


WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has awardedd a $14,849 grant to Mason City through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. 

 

"These funds will help law enforcement in Mason City increase efficiency and reduce crime in the community," Grassley said.

 

Mason City will use the money to help purchase a Total Station to provide the police department with an efficient and accurate tool for reconstructing collision and crime scenes as well as provide training to officers and supervisors in the areas of leadership, management, and supervision to help implement a sustainable in-house training program.

 

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system.  The funds can be used to help pay for technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information systems for criminal justice.
