WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration has awarded a $2.5 million grant to the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.
According to the Department of Transportation, the funds will be used to rehabilitate the runway.
“This project should increase the safety and efficiency of the runway at the Eastern Iowa Airport,” Grassley said.
Each year, local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
