$257,950 to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources

WASHINGTON - Chuck Grassley today said that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will receive a $257,950 competitive grant from the National Science Foundation.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will use the money to help pay for a project titled, “The Winneshiek Lagerstatte, Stratigraphy and Depositional Environments of the Lower Portion of the St. Peter Sandstone.”

Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government.  The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
