$270,215 to Des Moines and Mason City from HUD

WASHINGTON — Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has released funds totaling $270,215 to Des Moines and Mason City.

"These funds will help Des Moines and Mason City provide decent, safe housing options for veterans and low income residents," Grassley said.

The money will be distributed through the Housing Choice Vouchers program and the HUD Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Grant program as shown below.

·

Des Moines

will receive $159,910.

·

Mason City

will receive $110,305.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, housing choice vouchers allow very low-income families to choose and lease or purchase safe, decent, and affordable privately-owned rental housing.  The HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program helps provide rental assistance under a supportive housing program for homeless veterans.
