WASHINGTON- Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development awarded two grants totaling $36,395 to Iowa through the Community Facilities Grant Program.
“These funds will help improve the facilities and services provided at Pathways Behavioral Services and at the community center in Exline,” Grassley said.
USDA will distribute the funds as shown below.
•Exline receives a $27,750 grant to help purchase and install new windows, siding and doors in the community center.
•Pathways Behavioral Services in Waterloo receives a $8,645 grant to help renovate an existing building in Fredericksburg to create the Pathways Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Center to provide mental health and substance abuse counseling and services.
The Community Facilities Loan and Grant program provides grants, loans and loan guarantees to assist in the development of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
