WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration has awarded a $400,000 grant to the Iowa Department of Transportation.
The Iowa Department of Transportation will use the funds to replace the bridge over Keg Creek on U.S. 6 in southwest Iowa.
“This funding is intended to increase the safety and efficiency of U.S. 6, as well as help provide important economic development opportunities for the surrounding communities,” Grassley said.
Each year, local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
