WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that Fleenor Manufacturing in Pella has received a $500,000 competitive grant from the National Science Foundation.
"This is a nice example of a small, Iowa business working to help lessen our dependence on foreign oil," Grassley said.
Fleenor Manufacturing will use the money to help pay for a project titled, "SBIR Phase II: Reducing Diesel Fuel Consumption in Recovering Woody Biomass." According to the National Science Foundation, the project will build, field test, and prepare for commercialization, a prototype industrial tub grinder with integrated high inertia flywheel technology that will reduce the consumption of diesel fuel in recovering woody biomass.
