WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a $500,000 grant to Sioux City through the Small Community Air Service Development Program.
“This money will help improve air transportation in Sioux City,” Grassley said.
According to the Department of Transportation, the Small Community Air Service Development Program assists communities to enhance air service and address high air fare issues.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity administering the funds.
