$75,000 to Northwest Iowa Planning Commission

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration has awarded a $75,000 investment to the Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission, which serves Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto and Sioux counties.

The commission will use the funds to create and retain jobs by helping the region adapt to pressing trade impact issues and diversify its economy.

“These funds should help area counties establish a roadmap for bringing economic development to the region,” Grassley said.

According to the Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Administration serves as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities throughout the U.S.  Its mission is to lead the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy.
