WASHINGTON - Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $775,351 to Iowa through its National Emergency Grant program.
Hawkeye Community College Iow@Work and the Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission will use the federal funds to help provide employment related services to workers affected by layoffs at Deco Products Company in Decorah, Gencor Industries, Inc. in Marquette, Rockwell Automation, Inc. in Sumner, TriMark Corporation in New Hampton, and Wilbert, Inc. in Winthrop.
“This assistance will help provide training and new skills to the affected workers, so they can get back on their feet and compete for new jobs in the future,” Grassley said.
National Emergency Grants provide supplemental dislocated worker funds to states, local boards, and other eligible entities in order to respond to the needs of dislocated workers and communities affected by major economic dislocations and other worker dislocation events which cannot be met with formula allotments.
