WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded three competitive grants totaling $796,293 to Iowa.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will distribute the money as shown below.
· Newlink Genetics Corporation in Ames will receive $363,483 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to help pay for an allergy, immunology, and transplantation research project titled, "Novel Immune-based Therapy for Leishmaniasis and Tuberculosis."
· Southeastern Community College will receive $117,810 to help pay for health care and facilities.
· The University of Iowa will receive $315,000 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to help pay for a pharmacology, physiology and biological chemistry research project titled, "RAMP Mediated Gene Delivery."
