$923,400 to University of Northern Iowa

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $923,400 in congressionally directed spending to the University of Northern Iowa.

UNI’s Center for Bio-Based Binders and Pollution Reduction Technologies will use the funds to replace sand binder systems (used to make sand casts) with those made with bio-based renewable resources.

“These funds will help UNI replace sand binders with renewable bio-based binders, which should help lower harmful emissions and add value to Iowa’s biomass resources,” Grassley said.
