WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today said that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development has awarded grants and loans totaling $984,000 to Iowa.
“This funding will help deliver quality programs, increase economic opportunities, and improve the quality of life of rural Iowans,” Grassley said.
The Office of Rural Development will distribute the money as shown below.
• Hospice with Heart in Glenwood will receive a $150,000 loan guarantee to help make facility improvements to its new Hospice House and purchase equipment including beds, medical equipment and essential furnishings.
• Regional Water in Avoca will receive grant and loan funds totaling $834,000 to help pay for a sewer project that will improve services to 72 households in Mineola.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
